Madonna Renewal Center – Freeport, Il – It’s here! For several weeks we have been waiting for a special car to arrive so we can present it to everyone. That day has arrived!
First let’s get a little background to let you know why all of us involved with the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) are so excited about this car. After all, a car is just a car-right? Wrong! This car is a vintage automobile donated to the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary so they can raffle it off. This will mean a wonderful contribution to the restoration of the Madonna Renewal Center. The donor wishes to remain anonymous so we respect his/her wishes and can only say “Thank you and God bless you” whoever you may be.
Now on to the description of this oh, so special, automobile. It is a completely original 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door with approximately 79,000 miles, a V-8 with a 283 cubic inch engine and a 2 barrel carb.
To the best of our knowledge, it is one of only three such autos nationwide.Continue Reading →
Madonna Renewal Center-Freeport Illinois – On Memorial Day, May 25, 2015, several members of the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) and the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, took part in the annual parade in Freeport and later in the day, in Pecatonica, Il.
Memorial Day is a time we pay tribute to all our brave men and women who died in the service to our country, and to also pay tribute to those still living who have served and are serving in our military. Continue Reading →
On April 16, 2015 an amazing MRC team of volunteers gathered at the Sisters Home (Convent) on South Walnut Avenue for a fun evening/get together. It was a very pleasant informal gathering getting to know each other. As usual, our Pastor Fr Barr was there to support us. The sisters used the opportunity to express their deepest appreciation of the wonderful people that have been part of this life changing journey of establishing a home for pregnant women. We are truly grateful to all of our volunteers for their commitment and sacrifices. Some of you carry MRC everywhere you go. Some others quietly work behind the scene, while others are on their knees praying for success. Whether you were able to come or not we love and cherish you. For those that could not make it, we truly missed you. For those that did come, we enjoyed the time with you.
I want to share with all of you this message I previously posted on facebook:
Each time I reflect on life issues particularly Abortion, James 2:16 comes to mind “and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”-but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? Then, I ask myself, what good is it to say to a woman who is pregnant, conflicted, confused without support system, you must preserve life? Goodness me! The very air she breathes seems to shout “Get rid of your baby.” I want to be there for this woman. I want to provide her a home. I want to help her remember that she is a precious pearl in the arm of her Creator. Please, pray for the success of Madonna Renewal Center. Help draw support for www.madonnarenewalcenter.com.
A very nice Catholic reacted to this post by stating “Would it not be better if God focused upbringing were upheld to save us later acts that seem holier than thou attitude…..? Would it not be cheaper to build good family upbringing than waste time and resources providing homes for a group that our hypocrisy has caused to blossom, etc?” Continue Reading →

MadonnaRenewalCenter.com – Freeport, Il – by Annarae – On Tuesday, February 17, over two hundred people braved the icy cold winds to enjoy good food, fellowship, and to help a worthy cause, the renovation of the former St. Francis Hospital. This event was held in the lovely facilities of the First Lutheran Church in Freeport. We are grateful to Pastor Keith Johnson and to the First Lutheran Church community for allowing us to use their facilities, not only for this event but for graciously allowing the Sisters and the various committees to hold their monthly meetings there.
The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), our “Blue Nuns” held a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for their project, the Madonna Renewal Center, which will be a place of healing and hope to women. To say this event was a success would be an understatement! A steady stream of hungry folks kept all the volunteer kitchen crew busy the entire time. Everyone raved about how wonderful everything tasted and many asked when the next dinner would be held. Spaghetti, meat balls or sauce, salad with a tasty Italian style dressing, garlic bread and a beverage made a filling and oh, so enjoyable meal, or perhaps I should say feast. This was all topped off with an array of desserts that filled over two long tables from which one could pick a generous portion of cakes, cookies, or pies. Trust me, no one went away hungry! Madonna Renewal Center- Freeport Illinois- Slowly but surely the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) website is coming to life. A big thank you goes out to the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIHM) and all the MRC committees who have made this possible. Because we are just getting our web up and running, we will re-present some of the articles from the past six months that were posted on other web sites in order to bring all of our supporters and readers up to date.
Some of you have participated in these events or read about or saw a video on these events presented below. Please bear with us; in a couple of weeks all reports will be fresh and new.
The first major outreach to the Freeport community was held September 20, 2014 and was promoted as the “Come and See” event. The Sisters wanted everyone to meet some of Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to see the future home of the Madonna Renewal Center. Continue Reading →
Madonna Renewal Center- Freeport, Il – 9-14-2014 – by Annarae
Freeport, Il has been blessed to have several Nigerian nuns from the order of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ. Their presence has been noted not only by their tireless work in the community, but also by their bright blue habits; many of us refer to them as our Blue nuns. They are now working on a very special project that will help not only women, but the entire community as well. They have already been teaching at the local Catholic schools, providing care at a local nursing center and many other spiritual and social services for our area. They were given, for a meager sum, the old St. Francis Hospital building.Continue Reading →
